A 12-Inch Cast Iron Skillet and Some New Features

OUR NEXT PRODUCT: A 12-INCH CAST IRON SKILLET!

Hello, fans of our 10.5-inch cast iron skillet! It’s been a while since we last posted on the blog so we wanted to fill everyone in on what’s been happening.

Our new headquarters in Allentown, PA is up and running and has been serving us well. We’ve been hard at work improving our facility and growing our team to increase output and cut down wait times. We can’t thank everyone enough for their patience and support through the process.

As some of you may have seen on social media, we’re pleased to officially announce that our next product will be a 12-inch cast iron skillet. A lot of you have been asking for a larger skillet and we heard you loud and clear. This skillet will have all your favorite features from our 10.5-inch skillet, except… you know… bigger!

A larger cooking surface means you can invite more friends over to show off your cooking skills. Or, if you’re a lousy cook, you can invite them over just to admire your beautiful empty skillet.

To give you an idea of the size, you can see the 10.5-inch cast iron skillet nested inside a 3D-printed prototype of the 12-inch skillet here:

All the meticulous planning, testing, designing and redesigning that went into our very first cast iron skillet will also go into this one. Just because we nailed the design with the first skillet doesn’t mean it’s a copy/paste job for the next one. We want to exceed expectations. No sophomore slump for us! Since we do have some serious development work ahead of us, we cannot put an exact ETA on this 12-inch bad boy quite yet, but we do anticipate having it available for purchase later this year. We’ll keep you updated on our progress.

THE 10.5-INCH CAST IRON SKILLET GETS A FACELIFT

In addition to working on the development of the 12-inch cast iron skillet, we’ve also been working closely with our partner foundry to give the 10.5-inch one some spiffy new features (which will also be present on the 12-inch). We’ve already started to roll out these new features, so if you received a skillet from us recently, take a closer look! These features may be right in the palm of your hand.

CASTING DATE CODE

Each of our cast iron skillets now has a date code cast into the underside of the helper handle, so you can see the exact date your prized possession was cast. So if you want to have a birthday party for your skillet every year, go for it… but then maybe try to make some new friends?

Since our cast iron skillet is built to last many lifetimes, this date code adds keepsake value as well. Years from now, when your great-great-great grandchildren are cooking in their kitchen (probably in a colony on Mars or something) they can look at this date code and think of what life must’ve been like WAY back when the skillet was cast… a simpler time…

“SMOOTH AS A SAFEWAY CHICKEN!” – COWBOY KENT ROLLINS

How smooth is a Safeway chicken? We have no idea but this is one smooth skillet. We’ve made some changes to both the casting and finishing processes of our skillet to improve the surfaces inside and out:

  • Satin-smooth cooking surface – Our cooking surface now boasts a superior finish for stronger seasoning adherence and less maintenance. You’re already fussy enough, you need a skillet that just gets the job done.
  • Improved exterior finish –  Wait until you get your paws on these. Go ahead, don’t be shy. They are more comfortable in the hand and easier to clean.

See what people are saying about the skillet.

That’s all the news for now. If you have any questions, comments or feedback, feel free to drop us a line in the comments below. Until then, we’ll catch you on the flip side… or whatever it is the kids are saying these days… something about Fortnite or Fidget Spinners or Tide Pods maybe? Anyway, Team Stargazer out ✌️
